Baby’s got new screws…and magazine springs. The first screws I ordered from McMaster-Carr were lost in USPS- Haslet for two weeks. They were the wrong head diameter (my fault). I found Freedom Gorilla has all sizes of screws for Holosun optics and I ordered a set of M4 by 10mm screws from them. They were lost in USPS-Fort Worth for 3 weeks.
Once I got the correct screws in hand, I installed them, quickly. They came pre-coated with a significant amount of Loc-Tite blue. I witness marked them to line up with the previous marks on the optic body and waited 24 hours to shoot it.
No sight adjustments were needed, which was a surprise. Other than the optic screws and the magazine springs, the gun has completed the cycle of function every time. With the new extra power Wolff magazine springs in the Mec-Gar magazines, it is locking the slide to the rear with regularity, again.
It does not seem to have the general tendency of Hi Powers to leave the last empty case lying on top of the empty magazine. While that has never caused me any issues, I have seen the empty case bounced off the top of the new magazine as I am bringing it toward the magazine well. It ejects empty cases about six feet to the 4 o’clock with good consistency.
I expended 60 rounds total, the last 45 on 20 yard 8-10″ steel targets. I really like this gun. I am trying to hold off on the new trigger parts kit available from Apex Tactical. I want to see how well the gun holds up in stock setting, though I will install an 18.5# recoil spring when I get to 1000 rounds. I plan to shoot quite a bit of +P stuff that I have lying around and I don’t want to abuse the gun. It now has 530 rounds with no stoppages or parts breakages.
